What the World needs now…

Our pastor asked Sunday, “How many of you are to the point that you avoid the news?” That’s an interesting question. I have always considered myself a “news junkie.” If I pick up my phone or tablet one of the first things I do is check the news and what’s going on around the world, focusing on the United States. Now that we have a 24-hour news cycle, things change by the minute, and some of the things I read make me physically angry. You know what I mean! Some of the questions we ask when watching… “What? Where did that come from?” “How can things get so far off the rails?” “What in the world?”. I just look at the TV and shake my head. Just think, 10 or 15 years ago, who would thought we would be arguing over what a “man” or “woman” was or is? Just like Pastor Norm said Sunday, “It was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!”

It seems like the world has lost its minds. Of course, if you asked someone about what’s going on and how we as Christians feel about the current issues, a good chance their reply would be, “Well you’re from that hick town of Virgilina, you don’t understand. Then when we responded with our Biblical principles, they would refer to us as backward, uneducated, rednecks. But I’m a little old school. I remember when we prayed and said the Pledge of Allegents in school before the day started. When most of the neighbors were in church on Sunday mornings. Where did we lose our way?

We as a nation stopped praying! Hey, I’m just as guilty as anyone. I find myself forgetting to pray. When big things happen in my life or a major decision is needed, yes, I will pray. But what about those daily things? The little decisions we make daily or hourly, do we pray or just go on and do it ourselves? Hey brother, I’m that same way. I sometimes find myself going days without praying. We must get back into the habit of our prayer life. We have forgotten how I think. We find ourselves just going through the routine of our daily lives not praying. I think we should be praying several times per day. But do we?

Take some time this week, look at your daily activities, and ask yourself, Am I Praying? Prayer is not a position of the body, but a position of the heart. I’m going to start a prayer journal, not only to see if I’m praying like I should but to see how God is answering those prayers. The Bible says that God answers all of our prayers. Remember, He might say, “No” or He could say, “No, not right now.” or He might say, “Yes” and work miracles.

What the world needs now… Prayer!
